Masonic Love is a story that I would consider a love story with some hard twist and turns. It is a story of Bree, her abusive husband Gage and her childhood friend and love Alonzo. Bree and Alonzo grew up together since they were children. As teenagers they took their relationship to another level, adding the title of boyfriend and girlfriend. Their love continued to blossom as they headed off to college. Then tragedy hit and they separated, while sadly loosing touch with each other. Years later Alonzo comes home to run the family business and runs into Bree. They agreed to have lunch after Bree's husband forgets about their wedding anniversary and doesn't have the time to take her out to celebrate. This opens the door to the spark that once was between Bree and Alonzo to be reignited again. Due to the severe domestic abuse Bree endured in the years with Gage, Alonzo's gentle and loving touch was so needed and welcomed. Then comes the twist and turns of the Mason association that brings this triangle to a head and it explodes. The saying "it's a small world," comes into play through Alonzo and Gage's Masonic Brotherhood connection.
Does the young love that was once shared between Bree and Gage blossom into a new love of commitment? Loyalty plays a big part of being apart of the Masonic Brotherhood. When hell breaks loose, how will the Mason’s respond and whose sides will that take? Check out this book to find out.
Tracy Spence Banks brings the element of love, deceit, suspense and murder into the story she calls Masonic Love. I loved the characters. I love the passion of the positive side and the negative side of this story. My only concern is, I felt the characters and story could have been stronger and more developed. There could have been more in creating a visual and dialogue with the characters to really grab and challenge me as a reader, although I did find it to be a page turner.
Despite what I might feel this book lacked in depth, I still would recommend it to someone that loves a quick read that brings a taste of passion, betrayal, action and even loyalty to its pages. I look forward to reading more from this writer and am anxious to see her blossom into the great writer that I feel she is. I love the diversity in her writing capabilities, which definitely has my attention. Great job Tracy Spence Banks! Keep on doing your thang!
